Step One:
You contact me.
You fill in the Contact Us form.
Feel free to include as much or as little information as you want. None of it’s fixed, none of its binding. You can write out a detailed plan for the big day, you can tell me what you had for lunch, or you can leave it blank.
Step Two:
I contact you.
I give you a call or email, usually within 24 hours of receiving the enquiry.
If you choose the call option, I will always text you first to make sure you are free to chat.
We set up a time to chat, I call you on the dot at the time agreed.
You don’t answer? No worries, plans change, life gets in the way, or sometimes you straight up get nervous and don’t want to answer a ringing phone - I get it, and it’s okay.
I send you a follow up text flagging I called, and invite you to call me when you are free. You can do that, or not do that - I won’t pester you with follow up calls - we all have our reasons.
But now you have my number, and are welcome to reach out at any point.
Step Three:
We set up a 100% free and obligation-free meeting.
We find a time that works for both - we all have jobs in the real world - myself included.
This is normally a video call over Microsoft Teams with you both, between 6pm and 10pm, Monday to Thursday, but can be flexible as needed.
Step Four:
We meet for the first time.
This 100% free and obligation-free meeting is a chance for you to determine if I am the right celebrant for you.
I hope I am, but I may not be - that’s okay. I may be one amongst many you are meeting, and that’s okay too.
In this meeting we will discuss what you want - style, scale, inclusions, exclusions, budget and timing.
These meetings are typically 30 minutes or so, but a simple “okay I think we have all we need” on your end is sufficient enough of hint - I can read a room, it’s a mandatory prerequisite for being a celebrant!
Following this meeting I’ll leave it 2-3 days, and if I haven’t heard from you, I will send you a follow up message - you can reply, or not (see above re reading the room!).
Step Five:
WE'RE GETTING MARRIED BY HARRY.
Your neighbours look on in envy as you scream this from the balcony.
Your colleagues look on in amazement as the skywriter full-stops the sentence.
Your phone starts pinging like a psytrance track as your friends start liking the socials.
Congratulations, and thank you. I can’t wait to start this journey with you.
Your date is locked in with a $250 deposit.
Step Six:
Initial planning meeting.
We meet, virtual or in-person, to start properly planning the big day.
First, we fill in the Notice of Intended Marriage. This must be done at least one month before the ceremony and is valid for 18 months. If it must be done in less than a month, we can explore seeking a Shortening of time.
We then fill in the Declaration of no legal impediment to marriage form.
With the boring stuff out the way, the fun can begin.
I will present you with an outline of how a typical ceremony runs, but this is definitely just a starting point.
I’ll throw some ideas out, you can yay or nay them (#Frank&Fearless).
I’ll ask you questions, lots of questions - some you will want to answer on the spot, some you will want to think about.
We will finish up the meeting with a rough outline of the ceremony, some rough ideas about rituals and symbols, and a whole lot of excitement.
Step Seven:
I go away and do my thing.
I leave the initial meeting with bulk info on what you want.
I get to work drafting your ceremony; no re-purposing here.
Within two weeks, I send you a first cut of your ceremony, with options, for your reaction. You digest it and send it back to me with any edits/ questions, or you say ‘let’s chat at our next meeting’, or you say ‘Harry I trust your judgement’ and I go away and polish it.
Step Eight:
Second planning meeting.
With a strong idea of the script, we move into planning the specifics.
Who will be doing the readings and what will they read?
What music do you want to enter with?
What do you want me to wear?
What is our contingency plan?
How will the ceremony actually run?
We finish by booking in time for your private vow writing and practice sessions.
Step Nine:
Vows, Vows, Vows.
We have our one-on-one planning meeting (virtual) - you each get your own.
In this planning meeting we talk through what you want your vows to say - you can throw suggestions at me and I write them down, or I can throw suggestions at you - or a bit of a) and a bit of b).
I go away and draft up some ideas based on our conversation, and send them to you.
Once we are happy with the content, we have our one-on-one practice session (virtual) where we go through the presentation until your are completely confident.
Step Ten:
Readings practice.
I contact your chosen readers (x2) with some suggestions for readings, and arrange a time to virtually meet for a practice session.
In this session, we run through the reading, and I provide advice and guidance on the best way to go about it.
We keep going until they are confident.
Step Eleven:
The Final Planning Meeting.
In this session we dot the i’s and cross the t’s. We do a final rundown of how the ceremony will flow and ensure you are 100% happy with it.
Then we hug, we laugh and we cry, and say “I’ll see you soon”.
Step Twelve:
The Rehearsal.
Usually held during the week before the ceremony, we do a full run-through of the ceremony and ensure everyone knows where they need to be and when. This can be done in-person or virtually.
Final Step:
The Big Day.
I’m there an hour before the ceremony starts, and set up my PA system and the signing table. I welcome the guests and ensure the schedule is maintained.
And you, you get Married By Harry.
